by Oswald Chan

Auspicious Wish At this very moment, for the peoples and the nations of the earth, may not even the names disease, famine, war, and suffering be heard. Rather may their moral conduct, merit, wealth, and prosperity increase, and may supreme good fortune and wellbeing always arise for them.

She had offered to cook A meal of meals, special to her, So I took flowers and wine And knocked gently on her door Something about her Had captured my interest But I knew not her ways, Nor that my heart was to become An ingredient of her recipe. I watched her prepare the table, Smoothing a white starched cloth, Nimbly laying sparkling cutlery Delicately placing shining glass. Her laugher rang infectiously Her words fell as music on my ears Her eyes, deep and expressive Caught mine in glances that Drew me into willing captivity. During the meal that followed - I cannot recall precisely when, She reached out to my heart, And gently, lovingly, painlessly, Loosed it from its bearings. I did not struggle or resist For I wished not to be free. © K.Cleland |
Don't forget the starry sky, Don't forget the sky at night, It is in absolute silence. Its boundary is far far beyond. It will listen to you truly, never let you alone. See, the moon, she is so quiet, All the stars are there with her, Will lead her and follow her In this forever home. All these wonderful good friends, Are all there up in the sky. by Oswald Chan

Nothing to do but work, Nothing to eat but food, Nothing to wear but clothes To keep one from going nude. Nothing to breathe but air Quick as a flash 't is gone; Nowhere to fall but off, Nowhere to stand but on. Nothing to comb but hair, Nowhere to sleep but in bed, Nothing to weep but tears, Nothing to bury but dead. Nothing to sing but songs, Ah, well, alas! alack! Nowhere to go but out, Nowhere to come but back. Nothing to see but sights, Nothing to quench but thirst, Nothing to have but what we've got; Thus thro' life we are cursed. Nothing to strike but a gait; Everything moves that goes. Nothing at all but common sense Can ever withstand these woes. by Benjamin Franklin King 1857 - 1894
