Published by MacMillan and Co. Limited,
St. Martin's Street, London

Blue cloth cover, title in black printed on spine
with a paper jacket as seen in this picture.  In
excellent condition like new.

To be a book-collector is to combine the worst
characteristics of a dope fiend with those of a miser.

"Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel De Foe

Rare edition published in 1800s by Ward, Lock
& Co., Warwick House, Dorset Buildings,
Salisbury Square, E.C. with memoir of the
author.  Illustrated by separate coloured plates
on tinted paper, and numerous woodcuts
inserted in the text.  Beautifully Designed by T.
H. Nicholson, and engraved by C. W. Sheeres.  

Front cover has illustrations blindstamped in gilt
and dark brown on brown cloth, it shows
Crusoe in standing position holding a rifle, with
Friday in kneeing position on a beach with
palm trees and ocean in the background; gilt
and dark brown title on spine with illustrations
of Crusoe.  

The book is in good condition consider its age,
there are very little fox-spots or smudges in the
margins, full-page plates and hinges are loosen
but in good condition with very little corners and
ends bumps and frayed.
Commissioned by Buckingham Palace, this
book was published to raise fund for The
Queen's "Work for Women" Fund in conjunction
with The National Relief Fund in 1914.  There
are beautiful 22 coloured plates of paintings
and many drawings by more than 40 varied
artists.  22 Authors included J.M. Barrie, G.A.
Birmingham, Hall Caine, Ralph Connor, A.
Conan Doyle, J. H. Favre, Ellen Thorneycroft
Fowler, Charles Garvice, H. Rider Haggard,
Beatrice Harraden, Rudyard Kipling, and many
more.

"Arthur and His Knights" by Christine Chaundler
Published by Nisbet & Co., Ltd. in 1900s.  Front cover and spine
have black and white illustrations printed and blindstamped on
green cloth.  It contains 8 full-page beautiful coloured plates by T.
Mackenzie.  312 pages.  Spine and corners bumped, little foxing
on outer page edges, a few on some pages, it is in very good
condition.  Each illustration is a piece of art, thus this is one of my
favourite rare books.
