Do I have to pay a membership fee or any fees in order to have a Book Lover Account?
  • No, there is no membership or any fees.

What is a Book Lover Account?
  • A Book Lover Account is an account in your name to record the books that you've donated
    to and the books you purchase from The Book Attic.  Your account information is stored in
    database like a bank account.
  • The Book Attic issues no coupon, plastic or paper membership card as we wish to use less
    plastic, not to waste resources and maintain a green life style as often as possible.

Do I get cash payment for donating books to The Book Attic?
  • Sorry, no.  The Book Attic can't afford to offering you cash when accepting your books
    because of the high rent and operation costs.  
  • If there are credits in your book lover account, you get 8% discount when buying used
    books at The Book Attic.

How to use the credit points in my account to buy books at the Book Attic?
  • If there are credit points in your account, the deduction from your book lover account is
    one for one at 8% of the used book price, the balance to be paid in cash.

Do I have to wait after my books are sold in order to use the credit points?
  • No, you don't have to wait.  You're welcome to use your credit immediately because we do
    not know when your fellow book lovers will take your books home.  Some books might
    never be sold and be donated to schools and charity!

Will the credit balance in a Book Lover Account be expired?
  • Yes, if a Book Lover account is not active for 12 months, the balance in it will be expired
    and became zero.

What happen to the books that The Book Attic does not accept?
  • The Book Attic donates the books that it does not accept to charity.  If no charities accept
    them, the book will be sent to paper recycling industry.

Can I terminate my Book Lover Account with credit in it?
  • Yes, of course you can terminate your Book Lover Account at any time you desire.  The
    credit in your account can be transferred to someone you nominate.

Can I buy books at The Book Attic if I do not have a Book Lover Account?
  • Of course you are welcome to buy books at The Book Attic.  We need your support to
    keep the attic running.  Your contribution is always highly appreciated.

Can I keep the books I've purchase at The Book Attic?
  • Of course you can, they are your books.  But if you do not want to keep them in the future,
    you are always welcome to bring them back to the attic for sharing with other book lovers.

Does The Book Attic accept all kinds of books?
  • The Book Attic accepts most kinds of books in good condition.
  • Books in the following categories will be donated to charity:
  • Books in poor condition
  • Books smelling of cigarette smoke
  • Computer / Internet books
  • Romance
  • Magazines
  • Study aids and text books
  • When we have triplicate titles in stock

When make contribution of books, please
DO NOT leave books on the landing outside the
entrance of the bookshop as they would
get stolen by people in this neighbourhood. If
bookworms and eggs are found
in one book, the whole lot of your donation will be sent to
paper recycling industry, please treat your books before bringing them here.  Please also
include this
book donation form in each bag of your books donating to The Book Attic.
